Join us for a walk through the UW-Madison Arboretum as we keep an eye out for winter birds such as Red-bellied Woodpeckers and the resident flock of Turkeys! Birding is a wonderful way to appreciate winter in Wisconsin, see you there!

What to Expect
We will be walking approximately two miles along fairly flat terrain. These paths are narrow, are uneven in places and can be muddy or icy depending on the weather.
Parking and Transportation
There is a parking lot, divided into a North and South section, at the Visitor Center where we’ll be meeting. The North lot is accessible via Arboretum Drive and the South lot via McCaffrey Drive. There are five accessible parking spots in the main lot (two in the north section, three in the south section).
Unfortunately, no bus lines stop within a mile of the Visitor Center and the roads are not salted in the winter, but are instead maintained by plowing and gravel for those considering biking.
What to Expect and Accessibility
As always, birders of all skill levels and ages are welcome!
We have child- and adult-sized binoculars available for those who’d like to borrow a pair!
Be sure to dress warmly in layers, consider bringing hand warmers! The paths may be icy, so footwear with good traction is recommended.
Bathrooms (gendered) are located at the Visitor Center during open hours, along with an outdoor portable toilet located just outside the Visitor Center.
