Fall Birding at Turville Point (MSN)

Join us for a birding walk in Turville Point Conservation Park! Turville is a gem in the heart of Madison's concrete jungle. With restored prairies and woodlands stretching along glacial Lake Monona, it offers great views and abundant birding habitat.

Binoculars are available, and birders of all levels are welcome. We are family- and kid-friendly, and we love new birders!

Parking and Transportation

We will meet in the parking lot.

For bus access, the nearest stop is John Nolen & E. Olin (Madison Metro 12 & 13).

For bike access, the Capital City Trail goes right past the conservation park.

What to Expect & Accessibility

The total trail length is an estimated 2.3 miles. Dress in layers in case of cool, blustery conditions by the lake! The entry area includes about 1/3 mile of asphalt and paved trail. This area has uneven blocks and asphalt with potholes. Outside this area, the trails around the conservancy are mostly packed dirt or mowed grass, which can be muddy depending on weather conditions. Wooded sections may be narrow with roots and rocks.

We love new birders! As always, birders of all skill levels and ages are welcome!

  • We have child- and adult-sized binoculars available for those who’d like to borrow a pair!

  • Adjacent to Olin Park, which has restrooms and a parking lot as well
