Join us for a one-of-a-kind birding adventure at Mąą Wakącąk and the former Badger Army Ammunition Plant! In partnership with Rural/Urban FLOW, Wormfarm Institute, and the Ho-Chunk Nation, participants will explore Ho-Chunk land, visit the Earth, Sky, Water installation along the Sauk Trail, and search for some of Wisconsin’s most iconic grassland birds, including Bobolinks, Dickcissels, Eastern Meadowlarks, and Henslow’s, Grasshopper, and Savannah Sparrows.
The day will begin at the Museum of Badger Army Ammunition and include birding, learning opportunities, a short program, and lunch. This is a rare opportunity to experience a landscape rich in cultural, historical, and ecological significance.

We love new birders! As always, birders of all skill levels and ages are welcome!
We have child- and adult-sized binoculars available for those who’d like to borrow a pair!
As a reminder, the museum is the only location of bathrooms along our route.
Trail surfaces are a mixture of maintained roads, not-maintained roads, gravel, old fields, and undeveloped woods/shrubs/prairie.
Since our events are public spaces, it is possible that you may appear in photos. Please notify someone on our team if you prefer not to have your photo taken at an event.
