Let’s check out Warnimont Park for migrants about to head south, and northern birds looking for their winter home. This year has been especially good for finding Red-breasted Nuthatches and the winter finch forecast is looking good too.
Note: We are meeting at the south end of Warnimont, which is different than where we’ve explored in the past. We’ll meet in the lot for the Kelly Senior Center.
What to Expect
If we choose, we can stay on the paved Oak Leaf Trail for the whole hike, which we will share with bikers, joggers, and dog walkers. If everyone is up to walking the unpaved trails we could explore those too. Trails are mostly flat, with minimal hills especially along the unpaved segments.
The Senior Center is closed on Sundays, so the nearest restroom is a short drive north to the Warnimont Golf Course.
Since our events are public spaces, it is possible that you may appear in photos. Please notify someone on our team if you prefer not to have your photo taken at an event.
We love new birders! As always, birders of all skill levels are welcome and we have child- and adult-sized binoculars available for those who’d like to borrow a pair.
