Join us for a search for grassland birds including Dickcissel, Henslow’s Sparrows, and Eastern Meadowlarks as we explore the trails at Mequon Nature Preserve.

Parking and What to Expect

The trails are grassy, but not too uneven, with some hilly areas. There is also an optional lookout tower with wonderful views of the wetland areas and the birds that make their homes there.

We’ll meet in the parking lot near the nature center building.

We love new birders! As always, birders of all skill levels and ages are welcome!

  • We have child- and adult-sized binoculars available for those who’d like to borrow a pair!

  • Be sure to dress with sun protection and hot weather in mind - we recommend a full water bottle, sunscreen, and insect repellent!

  • Bathrooms: Please note that the Nature Center building will not be open, but there are clean portable toilets right outside the building and there are gas stations and fast food restaurants within a 5 minute drive.

  • Since our events are public spaces, it is possible that you may appear in photos. Please notify someone on our team if you prefer not to have your photo taken at an event.
